Collect comparable quotes
A single daily allowance hides the costly choices in an Egypt itinerary: museum coverage, separate tomb entries, intercity transport and whether a cruise replaces room nights. This worksheet starts with your actual quotes. Use one currency for the calculation and record the date of any exchange conversion.

Two official ticket checks
On October 4, 2026 the ministry pages displayed foreign-adult area admission at EGP 700 for Giza Plateau and EGP 750 for Valley of the Kings. These are dated public listings, not live quotes for your visit. Plateau admission excludes specified interiors; confirm the open tombs and any extra admissions separately. Do not apply Egyptian-resident or student rates without meeting the stated conditions.
For GEM, select the visit and visitor category in the official booking flow. Verify the resulting total rather than converting an old euro estimate. Save the ticket coverage together with the price.
Calculate once, without double-counting
Total group cost = room rate × rooms × nights + per-person costs × people + shared transfers + separately priced extras. Build the per-person part from the ticket shortlist and relevant meals or services. Divide the final shared total only among the people who will share it.
Arithmetic example only: a hypothetical 1,000-unit room for two nights costs 2,000 units. For two travellers sharing that room equally, each pays 1,000 units for accommodation. This is not an Egyptian hotel rate. Adding two per-person tickets would be a separate calculation, not another room night.
A cruise cabin may replace hotel nights and meals. Mark which dates and services it covers before adding those same costs elsewhere. Keep optional activities and your chosen contingency amount on separate lines so the essential trip is visible.
Compare packages by omissions
Ask for the cabin or room category, private versus shared transfer, guide language, included admissions and cancellation terms in writing. A cheaper headline can exclude the pyramid interior, a tomb supplement or an airport pickup. Compare the same selection of services before calling one offer better value.
The previous “30% hotel markup”, cruise price bands and universal daily-rate guarantees have been removed because they lacked supporting quotes. This worksheet supplies no promise that a particular travel style fits a fixed amount.
What if a quote expires?
Keep its validity date beside the amount. Reprice that line before payment and update the total. If you convert currency, retain the original EGP quote so a change in exchange rate does not look like a change in the supplier’s price.
