Ten days: Cairo → Luxor → Aswan
This is a planning outline, not a booked package. It counts ten calendar days, including arrival, two intercity transfers and departure. Start and finish are different cities; if your flights both use Cairo, add the return connection and any necessary overnight stay before booking.

Test the route against tickets first
- Put arrival, departure and any fixed museum entry on the calendar.
- Choose and confirm each intercity service. Record where it departs and arrives.
- Keep the transfer blocks until actual timings establish spare time. Do not sell the same hours twice as both transport and sightseeing.
- Keep day nine optional. Use it for a confirmed Abu Simbel visit, a delay or rest.
The museum day refers to GEM’s current booking coverage; the Giza Plateau listing is a separate admission. Check both instead of assuming one “pyramids tour” includes all interiors and museum entries.
A cruise is a different schedule
Ask the operator for the sailing direction, embarkation and disembarkation dates, cabin occupancy, docking plans and included shore visits. Replace the relevant transfer and overnight blocks with that written schedule. Do not compress a multi-night cruise into day seven or assume every cruise has identical temple stops.
If the cruise determines your dates, work backwards to Cairo and forwards from Aswan. Compare the whole revised trip, including the extra hotel nights, with the land-transfer version.
Shorter or longer trips
For fewer than ten days, reduce the number of bases. A Cairo-and-Luxor outline avoids adding Aswan and its onward connection; a Luxor-and-Aswan trip works from a different arrival point. Neither is a shortened guarantee for every sight in the full route.
With extra days, add rest and transfer flexibility before adding another distant excursion. For the same-Cairo-airport return, assign a real return travel day. For a desert extension, review the exact regional route against current travel advice before accepting an operator proposal.
Keep one confirmation sheet
Record booking references, provider contacts, addresses, refund terms and the included tickets in one offline document. Ask where a guide meets you and where the service ends. This is especially useful when a hotel, a tour company and a transport company each sell different parts of the journey.
This route replaces the old eight-step list and contradictory sixteen-day FAQ. It does not promise a fixed train duration or a same-day international connection.
